In a world of hot takes and instant outrage, this space is meant to slow things down. I focus on clarity, curiosity, and evidence over noise, looking past the headlines to the ideas and assumptions underneath.

I don’t aim to be “neutral,” but I do aim to be fair. You’ll find opinions here, but also questions, self-reflection, and an effort to understand views I don’t share.

About the Author

I graduated from university in 1970, which makes me a full-fledged “boomer.” I’ve watched several waves of political and cultural change firsthand, from the turmoil of the late 1960s onward.

That longer view shapes how I write here: less impressed by slogans, more interested in patterns—what keeps returning, what truly shifts, and what we tend to forget.
